At PBA’s 2017 Summer Board Meeting 2017 President Andrew Kaye issued a challenge to all PBA members. “Despite the best efforts of our local builder associations, the membership numbers across the state have been declining steadily for many months,” said Andrew. “We have strength in numbers. The health, vitality, and influence of PBA are dependent upon maintaining a vibrant and active membership base.”
If we can bring PBA’s membership back up to 4,850 builder and associate members, Andrew pledged to give away a cash prize. The prize will go to an individual who successfully recruits a new member between August 1 and the end of 2017. PBA matched Andrew’s $1,000 pledge and other board members* subsequently added to the prize money. The grand prize is up to $2,400.00 and we’re still accepting additions to the prize pool. (Any additional donations will be added to the final prize amount.)
We want to reward those who are doing their utmost to increase PBA’s membership. Bring in one new member and you are entered in the drawing. Bring in two new members and you have two chances to win. Remember that it’s winner take all – one grand prize to one winner if PBA has 4,850 members at year end. We recognize that’s an aggressive goal. Nonetheless, even if PBA only gets to a level of 4,760 builders and associate members, we will give away fifty percent of the prize money to a qualified entrant.
For each new member recruited during the Challenge period, the recruiting member or EO will receive one entry for the prize drawing. President Andrew Kaye will draw one winner from all eligible entries at PBA’s 2018 Winter Board Meeting. The winner will be presented with a check at the meeting.
The PBA Membership Challenge begins August 1, 2017, and ends on December 31, 2017. NAHB’s membership statistics as derived from the NAHB WMS will be used for ascertaining membership goals reached, spike credits awarded, new members secured and any and all other measures necessary to determine eligibility. Data as of December 31, 2017, and produced by NAHB in mid-January 2018 shall constitute the final figures applicable to the PBA Membership Challenge. We are sorry, but no local association or self-reported statistics will be accepted. PBA leadership, in its sole discretion, will decide any questions regarding eligibility.
There is no time to waste. Start recruiting new members now. Not only do you get a chance to win more than two thousand dollars without buying a raffle ticket; you make PBA and your local association stronger. Let’s get to 4,850!
