Lawrence County BA – Energy Code Compliance in the Uniform Construction Code
November 8 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
One of the more challenging portions of the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) for residential builders is the ongoing evolution of energy code provisions. This session will provide an overview of the energy-related code provisions in the UCC with an emphasis on the recent changes associated with the 2018 ICC adoption.
More specifically, this session will dive into some of the ongoing challenges faced by builders and contractors, including air sealing and blower door testing, energy code compliance paths, and the PA Alternative Residential Energy Provisions. This session will require some storytelling on the part of attendees – the speakers will want to know where the stress is the greatest in their markets as it relates to energy.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the building science and heat flow principles that drive the performance of building as it relates to energy.
- Provide an overview of current code provisions that dictate minimum energy efficiency features and components in residential construction.
- Understand the manner in which different materials and systems impact the heat loss and heat gain in homes.
- Examine various compliance pathways for energy code compliance in the Uniform Construction Code in PA
