Each year, PBA presents awards in various categories. Nominations are now open - and it is easier than ever. We ask you to please choose from the categories below, complete the questions, and supply YOUR recommendation. Once the candidate is verified, PBA will reach out to your nominee and provide them with a more extensive questionnaire. Nominations for the Community Service and Media projects are for those completed in 2023.

PBA Distinguished Achievement Award
The Distinguished Achievement Award is given to individuals who have made significant long term contributions and have been responsible for outstanding achievements which benefit members of PBA and the housing industry.
Nominees are considered based on their: experience in the housing industry, service to their local association, PBA and NAHB, community involvement related to the housing industry; spirit of volunteerism.
Nominees need not be a builder or PBA member to be considered! This award may be given posthumously and is not intended to acknowledge accomplishments previously recognized by PBA through the Builder and Associate of the Year awards.

This award was designed to recognize individual PBA Affiliate Members who are associated with Builder or Associate members but not the member of record. The candidate demonstrates professionalism and distinguished service to PBA, NAHB and their local association. The candidate goes above and beyond to get involved offering time, energy and talents to serve at all association levels and in the industry as a whole. That dedication and service is what the Affiliate of the Year Award truly represents.

Builder & Shaker Award
This award was designed to recognize individual PBA members, under 40 years old as of December 31 of the awards calendar year, that are positioned to become (or already are) a leader in the industry. Builder and Shakers are industry professionals that are ambitious, hard-working, civic-minded individuals that demonstrate distinguished service to PBA, NAHB and their local association.
• All nominees must be PBA members in good standing.
• All entries must be complete. Incomplete entries will not be judged.
• Each nomination must be submitted on separate applications. Do not combine applications/nominees.
• Nominators cannot nominate themselves or a spouse. All nominees must be nominated by another PBA member.
• Nominees must be 40 years old or younger.
• All nominations must be received at PBA no later than the application deadline.

Community Project of the Year Award
PBA is inspired by the fact that so many of our members and locals understand the importance of reaching out and doing positive things in their communities related to the building industry. It is part of PBA's strategy to establish goodwill and credibility with the consumer audience. That's why we believe this award category is critical. Nominees can be a PBA member or a local association.
• All nominees must be a PBA member or a local association in good standing.
• All entries must be complete. Incomplete entries will not be judged.
• Each nomination must be submitted on separate applications. Do not combine applications/nominees.
• Nominators may nominate themselves. A non-member may nominate a PBA member or local for this award.
• All nominations must be received at PBA no later than the application deadline.
• Past winners of the Best Community Service Project Award are not eligible to win this award more than once every five years
• At least two photos of the project MUST be included with the application. PBA will not return submitted documents.
• While we ask that nominators strive for clean writing, no submissions will be disqualified on account of typos or writing style.
Qualified submissions will be judged in the following areas:
• How does the project relate to the building industry.
• How does the project benefit the community at large.
• How does the project benefit the home building community at large.

Media Project of the Year Award
PBA recognizes the innovative, creative, and informative approach to the development and distribution of any digital, print, or multi-media project. The best media award is presented to the project reflecting an outstanding best practice for communications. THIS CATEGORY IS FOR LOCAL HBA ASSOCIATIONS ONLY.
• Projects may be print or electronic.
• All nominees must be a local association in good standing.
• All entries must be complete. Incomplete entries will not be judged.
• Any member of a local may nominate the local association's media project.
• All nominations must be received at PBA no later than the application deadline.
• Past winners of the Best Media Project of the Year Award are not eligible to win this award more than once every five years.
• At least two samples of the project MUST be included with the application.
• While we ask that nominators strive for clean writing, no submissions will be disqualified on account of typos or writing style.
Qualified submissions will be judged in the following areas:
• Professionalism and presentation.
• How does the project relate to the building industry.
• How does the project benefit the home building community at large.
• The required information is submitted.
Only local HBAs are eligible for this award.
Rookie of the Year Award
This award was designed to recognize recent PBA members that have made a significant contribution to their PBA, NAHB or their local association. The qualified candidate must have been a member for no more than three years from the date of nomination. Rookies should be industry professionals that are ambitious, hard-working, civic-minded individuals that demonstrate distinguished service.
• All nominees must be a PBA members in good standing.
• All entries must be complete. Incomplete entries will not be judged.
• Each nomination must be submitted on separate applications. Do not combine applications/nominees.
• Nominators cannot nominate themselves or a spouse. All nominees must be nominated by another PBA member.
• All nominations must be received at PBA no later than the application deadline.
