Gene Kreitzer, 2009 PBA President, passed away suddenly on November 18 in Lebanon County.

Mr. Kreitzer, who owned and operated Gene Kreitzer Construction in Fredericksburg since 1978, was an active member of the Lebanon County Builders Association (LCBA) and the Pennsylvania Builders Association (PBA). At its peak, Gene Kreitzer Construction built homes in Berks, Dauphin, Lebanon, Perry, and Schuylkill counties. He was a proud graduate of the Berks County Technical School.

He joined the LCBA because he wanted affordable health care. But it was the friendships and strong business connections over the years that kept him involved. He served as President three times as well as Vice President, Treasurer, and Life Director of the LCBA. Additionally, he was involved in several committees including the habitat house, membership, and builder show committees. Recently, he was elected to serve again as the LCBA President as well as the Midwest Regional Vice President in 2025.

He later moved on to the state level to expand those relationships. Through the years, Mr. Kreitzer was an involved PBA member. He was the first Midwest Regional Legislative Officer, and he served more than a decade as the Chair of the PBA-Pennsylvania Housing Research Center (PHRC) committee. In addition, he served as Chair of the Small Contractor and PBA Benefits Trust committees.

In 2009, he was elected as the PBA President. During his term in office, Mr. Kreitzer championed the theme “We Build Together” to promote all the ways PBA can make associates and the housing industry strong.

He was honored by PBA as the Small Contractor of the Year in 1991; Regional Vice President of the Year in 1999; and as the 2001 Builder of the Year. Mr. Kreitzer was a PBA Life Director and attended Committee and Board of Directors meetings regularly right up to the time of his passing. He was a true advocate for the home building industry.

Gene Kreitzer was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in 2021.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kreitzer family.

Services will be held on Monday, November 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Kramer and Lum Funeral Home, 5 Camp Meeting Road, Jonestown, PA 17038.
