The Pocono Builders Association serves builders, remodelers, suppliers, and service providers who are devoted to providing safe, affordable housing to the community in Monroe County.
More than 120 members strong, the Pocono Builders Association is led by 2020 President Angelo Borzio, Jr. and a Board of Directors made up of many types of home-building business members.
Events like the Great Pocono Home & Outdoor Living Show, held annually in March, and the upcoming annual golf tournament, set for October 8, benefit not only members but the community. Members contribute time, money, and advice for the community members and consumers as well.
Proceeds from events and donations from members help to fund the annual scholarship program for students in Monroe County. The scholarship program has been going on for more than 10 years providing one – or sometimes two local graduating students with scholarship monies to further their education in fields related to the building industry. The award is usually between $1,000 and $1,500 per recipient. The parameters for the award are academic achievement, extracurricular activities, family and personal need, field of study and an essay explaining why they would be best for the scholarship Members also work closely with the Monroe Career and Technical Institute to help ensure the future of the workforce.
Many members also help the Monroe County Habitat for Humanity throughout the year through donations and by using their expertise to secure affordable housing for members of the community.
Members also gather in October annual for the Pocono Builders Association Builder Awards. Categories range from new residential construction to renovations and landscaping. The association also honors members in categories like advertising and marketing as well as website design. As an added plus, awards are also presented to homeowners who have completed at least 80 percent of their own DIY project.
While members enjoy the benefits available to them on a state and national level, the local association also provides a few perks including exhibitor discounts for the home show, use of the association’s conference room for meetings, networking events, and complimentary notary services. Members who take advantage of all the programs available to them can easily cover the cost of their annual membership.
Pocono Builder Association staff also frequently spotlight members on their social media platforms. Not only does this help the member market their services, but it also proves that membership is a sound investment.
