If you’re looking for a local home builders association with members who care for the future of the industry as well as their local community, look no further than the Central Susquehanna Builders Association (CSBA).
Chartered in 1967, CSBA serves members in Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union Counties. Matt Betts is the 2021 President and he works closely with Steve Brown (Vice President #1), John Kessler (Vice President #2), Tom Garvey (Treasurer), and Board members Mike Deihl, Andrew Hertzler, Dean Minnick, Pam Slusser, Kevin Swank, and Jason Williams. Manning the office since March 2021 is Executive Officer Jan Buck.
Each year, members organize the annual home show. The 2021 show was cancelled due to the pandemic, but plans are underway for 2022. The 34th Annual CSBA Home and Outdoor Design Show is set for March 18-20. An added member benefit is a discounted booth rate. Organizers always plan fun and information for all members of the family.
Membership has also fostered lifelong friendships. In the summer, a golf outing is held to bring people together while also raising money for scholarships granted to local high school and college students who plan to enter the trades. Another way to raise funds for the scholarships has been the annual Gun and Cash Raffle.
But education is not the only way CSBA members have given back to their neighbors. In July of 2020, members wanted to do something to help those impacted by the shutdown. So they organized a Chicken Barbeque Giveaway. Six hundred meals including a half chicken, macaroni salad, and chips were distributed – 300 in the Danville area and 300 in Mifflinburg area. There was no charge for the meals, but donations were accepted to benefit The Hope Center and The Backpack Program, both local nonprofit organizations that went above and beyond during the COVID crisis.
Programs like these are what makes the Central Susquehanna Builders Association so special. Members helping members and the community at large, no matter what obstacles there may be.
